Dana Wenzel is a violinist based in Vancouver, and she is an active performer and teacher. She is primarily a classical musician, but has experience playing jazz, Bollywood, Celtic fiddle, & more.

Dana received her Bachelor of Music from the University of Victoria, where she studied under Ann Elliott-Goldschmid and the Lafayette String Quartet. She has also studied under Jan Coleman, Dr. Sarah Pizzichemi, & the Skyros Quartet, participated in masterclasses with Rachel Barton Pine, Gwen Thompson, Marc Destrubé, & Chloé Trevor, and received coaching from Gerald Stanick.

A Suzuki student from early childhood, Dana pursued Suzuki teacher training after completing her Bachelor’s. She is currently certified by the Suzuki Association of the Americas through Unit 4, and was trained by Alice Ann O’Neill, Amanda Schubert, and Jenna Potts.

In addition to her conventional classical training, Dana has also trained in Baroque period performance. She has had lessons with Chloe Meyers, Joanna Hood, and Elyssa Lefurgey-Smith, and received training through the Baroque Orchestra Mentorship Program. She has performed in Baroque orchestras under directors such as David Greenberg, Marco Vitale, and Dr. Kevin Zakresky.

Dana also enjoys Contemporary music performance, and was taught by Joanna Hood and Dr. Anthony Tan. She appreciates many different styles of Contemporary, but is especially partial to electronic music and New Music Theatre.

In 2017, Dana was awarded Special Recognition for her Complete Program in the Seattle Young Artists’ Music Festival, performed as concertmaster and featured soloist in Cascade Youth Symphony’s European Tour, and received second place at the Washington State Solo/Ensemble festival in chamber music. In 2018 and 2019, she held leadership roles at the Chloé Trevor Music Academy and Tuned In! Summer Student Festival.

Dana regularly performs at weddings, proposals, and other events, and she also maintains a popular TikTok account—@dana.w.violin—where she discusses accessibility in classical music. In her free time she enjoys hand embroidery, cooking, and playing with her band, The Misguided.
